Clean Fuel Project, Saudi Arabia
In 2013, Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) wanted to upgrade the existing diesel and gasoline product specifications for sulfur, benzene and aromatics at Ras Tanura Refinery (RTR) as part of the Clean Fuel and Aromatics (CF&A) project. After the preparation of the EIA for the CF&A project, Saudi Aramco changed the scope of the project by modifying the production of some chemical species and associated storage and exporting facilities. As a result, the emission inventory prepared for previous RTR CF&A project had to be updated. Arensco was appointed to re-evaluate the emission inventory for RTR’s combustion units, chemical storage and handling facilities. The updated emission inventory comprised an estimation of emissions from process stacks, flare systems, process heaters, sulfur recovery units, vapor recovery units, gasoline blending tanks, as well as a large number of new and refurbished storage tanks for diesel and gasoline.
Health and Safety Inspection, Saudi Arabia
Mobily appointed Arensco in 20XX to inspect more than 350 offices, stores, warehouse and towers for Health and Safety related aspects. This is a three year project and the team of health and safety experts, working across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, undertakes the inspections on an annual basis. Findings are reporting to the management of Mobily. The scope of work includes providing health and safety training.
Asbestos Survey, Saudi Arabia
Arensco was contracted by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Defense (MOD) to complete a survey of the existing asbestos containing materials (ACMs) within 26 MOD facilities within the Kingdom. The facilities include industrial, commercial and residential areas, across a wide spectrum of air, naval and medical institutes.
During the project, it became clear that the existing data held by the MOD was inaccurate or outdated. Arensco suggested that a full asbestos survey should be carried out.
Arensco set out to complete the survey, which included; locating all ACMs, testing and bulk sampling, quantifying, recording and assessing the conditions, by completing a materials assessment algorithm. Information collected from each base was used to compile a comprehensive report.
The results of the 7 month project concluded that the total amount of asbestos located was in fact 53 % higher than first estimated by the MOD. In excess of 264 000 m2 of ACMs was detected.
The project was carried out by a team under the supervision of two international lead surveyors, accredited by the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) for asbestos works.
The same team prepared an asbestos abatement specification for the phase-out program which will be introduced by the MOD, based on the professional recommendations of Arensco.
